STEAM Garden

Where Art and Education Go to Grow!

This community project with Public Artist Daniel Zongrone funded by the Chapman Cultural Center – ArtsXcellerator Grant is designed to be an interactive garden where students and the community can create “nutritional masterpieces” .

S.T.E.A.M. (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Mathematics) is the Project Based Learning (PBL) approach to education where students learn by designing solutions to real world problems. The STEAM Garden enables classes to design garden sculptures where vegetables are grown to feed the community. The centerpiece of the garden is a Center Stage to serve the community for events and performances. The STEAM Garden design is in collaboration with Project Hub of Spartanburg.

The STEAM Garden planting is scheduled for the Spring of this year and plans to host a fall harvest event in September and the garden sculptures will be auctioned with proceeds donated to the community.

How Can I Get Involved?

  • Adopt a plot
  • Create a garden sculpture
  • Host a workshop at the center stage
  • Donate plants, seeds, or other materials
